The Zen House
Under Construction
Clean Lines and simplicity were the driving force for this 160m2 two bedroom and two bathroom home. Consideration for the Livable Housing standards combined with solar passive design principles, the home achieves a higher than average energy rating making for what will be a comfortable and efficient home.
The resulting design aims to provide our client with a sanctuary, one that will support their needs while being environmentally responsible. The home utilises solar power with battery backup, energy efficient hot water heat pump and hydronic heated flooring creating a comfortable home to live in. The north facing alfresco enables the living areas to capture the winter sun, as do the high level clerestory windows that accentuate the raking ceiling to the master bedroom.
The neutral finishes palette is accentuated by timber batten accents both externally and internally, stone-like large format tiling and brass accessories. Internally a discrete shadowline mounted picture rail system has been incorporated to ensure the client’s extensive art collection can be put on display effortlessly.
A simple home, but one with a high standard of inclusions and good solar passive design, making for a better and more sustainable outcome for the future.
