Communication is paramount at Aura Design Studio. We take time to listen to our clients and we also ensure that our ideas are communicated clearly.

Through the use of 3D computer modelling software we are able to convey our design intent, while allowing you to experience the project through a fully explorable 3D environment which also forms our documentation and aids with the solar analysis.

This comprehensive visual experience is an important part of our service, as it allows you to understand our ideas from the outset and gives the builder the support they need during construction to bring the vision to reality.

Sketch Design

Sketch design is the foundation of the design process, and is approached as an information gathering exercise to put us in the best position to create the right design solution for your needs.

We spend time analysing your site or existing home in the case of a renovation, discuss your brief with you, and collect inspiration images to help identify your likes and dislikes.

Through this process we obtain an initial impression of your lifestyle to help shape our design response.

Design Development

Building from the sketch design, the concept is refined and developed utilising 3D software bringing the project to life. We explore the construction materiality in detail and review each space, addressing the function and how it will interact with the surrounding environment.

During this stage we establish a solid design framework that has the flexibility and provisions to accommodate more refined selections at the documentation stage. Once developed to this level we can liaise with selected builders for a preliminary cost estimation.

Planning Permit

Once the design has been developed we will introduce it to the local planning authority prior to submitting for approval. This allows for any critical compliance related items to be discussed and justified to the local authority while also establishing a relationship with their planning department.

The planning permit documentation package will then be finalised, along with a detailed report for any concessions being sought, and submitted to the local authority on your behalf. Throughout the approval process we liaise with the council, respond to any requests for information and if required make adjustments to the permit package.

Interior Design

Interior design is integral to the architectural solution and forms a continuous part of our design process.

Our interior design service focuses on functionality - with careful consideration given to how you like to use your spaces, what your storage requirements are and creation of areas that showcase your personal expression.

From the selection of floor and wall materials to the thoughtfully specified cabinet finishes, tapware, bathroom fixtures, appliances, door handles, light fittings and more, our comprehensive service ensures that all aspects of the project are considered, giving you peace of mind.

Contract Documentation

Bringing all of the previous stages together, we produce a comprehensive set of documents suitable for tender pricing and construction. We communicate with a team of support consultants, such as structural engineers and energy assessors, managing this process for you and integrating their feedback into the package.

Details are refined, schedules of finishes prepared and selections are documented. It is in all parties’ best interest to have a clear and detailed documentation package which enables accurate tender pricing and a seamless construction process.

Contract Administration

The benefit of engaging a design professional for a bespoke design solution is that we can guide you through the construction process. With our intimate knowledge of the documents, we can keep track of progress on site, ensure what is being built aligns with the design intent and provide feedback to the builder on any critical fabrication and shop drawings.
